"Ta-Da!": celebrating small wins

"Ta-Da!": celebrating small wins

I came across an article last week from Fast Company about why millennial women are burning out more than their male counterparts. As a woman at the upper end of the millennial generation, I try to find and read these types of articles often - I want to know what is causing my peers to burn out, and I want to know how I can prevent it from happen to me.

Giving with Meaning: choosing the right card

Giving with Meaning: choosing the right card

I could spend hours browsing the card sections of Target or the Paper Source searching for cards to send to the people in my community. Part of this love comes from years and years of writing thank you notes as a child. My parents established early on the habit of sending handwritten notes to family and friends throughout the year. Every Christmas my brother and I received a new set of stationery with our names embossed on the cards and our addresses embossed on the flaps of the envelopes.

2016 goals: starting a new season

2016 goals: starting a new season

Happy September, friends! It's hard for me to believe that we have reached this point in the year already. I know that autumn doesn't technically start until the 22nd day of this month (or until December in Florida!), but when September 1st rolls around every year, my cozy sweater, gingerbread latte-loving side comes out and I find myself more than ready for cooler temperatures and colorful scenery!

Giving with Meaning: bridesmaid gifts

Giving with Meaning: bridesmaid gifts

As I thought about selecting bridesmaid gifts I sought to assemble items that could be used throughout the wedding weekend as well as after it ended. New Series: Giving with Meaning

New Series: Giving with Meaning

When Kurt and I were still engaged, one of the things we read together was The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. This book outlines the five ways in which people prefer to give and receive love - through words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service and physical touch. It was fascinating for Kurt and I to learn more about what each of us prefers, and I can see how we have remained aware of these preferences more than a year later.

Newlywed Date Night: taking a ballroom dance class

Newlywed Date Night: taking a ballroom dance class

This week I've been participating in the Love Your Spouse Challenge on Facebook. I was challenged my one of my best friends to post a photo of Kurt and I every day for seven days while sharing a bit about why I love him. It's been a really fun way to begin each morning, and I've enjoyed sharing with my friends and family bits and pieces of our relationship!

Visiting the Tallahassee downtown market

Visiting the Tallahassee downtown market

This past Saturday Kurt and I finally went to the Tallahassee Downtown Market! This farmers market has been running from March through November for twenty-one years and offers the residents of Tallahassee a chance to buy fresh produce, bread, honey, and other handmade goods from local farmers and vendors. It's relatively small, taking up just a couple of blocks downtown, but we loved the overall vibe - very casual and friendly!
