I don't think I can go an entire day without seeing a DIY project highlighted on Pinterest or Facebook or Instagram. Now don't get me wrong - I love a good DIY project. I enjoy the opportunity for creativity that choosing to DIY provides. You can be charmingly simple or richly complex and the chance to "stamp" something with your own identity can really be meaningful.

As Kurt and I started to plan our wedding celebration, I will freely admit I felt the pressure to have this "perfect" or "dream" wedding. What did that mean? Perhaps it was the huge Cinderalla-esque affair, complete with the large ballroom and even larger dress. Or it was the rustic wedding, small and intimate with lots of DIY details. With all of these examples and suggestions competing for my attention, it took me a bit to realize that whatever wedding we were going to plan was going to be the "perfect" wedding for us.

I find that sometimes social media can be a bit like the Rabbit's hole and I am Alice. It's full of wonderful things, but it can alter your sense of reality and lead you to make comparisons that are unhealthy or unrealistic. I sometimes scroll through Instagram or Facebook and, after seeing post after post of people's beautiful, curated lives, can feel like mine is empty. Which is nonsense! So I want to deal with this.
