Spring 10x10 Challenge Recap
I'm excited to share the fifth post in the Becoming Confident Series with you all today! One aspect of subjective perfection that has been the hardest for me to overcome is increasing my self-confidence. So I'm featuring a series of posts dedicated to methods and steps I've used to do just that! To read the other posts in this series, click here.
Last month, I participated in the Spring 10x10 Challenge hosted by Caroline from UnFancy and Lee from Style Bee. It was a great exercise for me to try living with a capsule wardrobe, and to be more creative with my clothes!
My 10 Items
I started the challenge on Monday, April 10, and continued it through, April 21. I used the 10 business days of that two week period and skipped the weekends.
Here are the items I chose to include in the 10. Click back to the style challenge intro post for images of each piece - similar pieces are linked where the actual piece wasn't available!
While I missed taking pictures every day (I got sick in the middle of the challenge), it was also a fun way to involve Kurt in the challenge. He liked helping to take my photo each day almost as much as I liked having it taken!
What I learned about my style through the challenge is that I am really comfortable in basics - comfy jeans, easy tops, and neutral colors. I don't often get adventurous with my outfits because I get nervous about drawing too much attention to myself. While I've made some strides in increasing my self-confidence, there is still a rather large piece of me that gets stuck in negative thoughts and words when I think about what I look like.
Overall, this style challenge helped me have fun and look forward to getting dressed everyday. It also gave me a taste of what living with a capsule wardrobe would really be like. While I'm not ready to jump in yet with that type of change to my closet, it is something that I'm warming to, especially as Kurt and I plan for moving later this summer!
I'd love to know - do any of you live with a capsule wardrobe? How do you have fun getting dressed everyday? What are some of your go-to clothing pieces, and what are some pieces that take some guts to wear? Share your thoughts in the comments!
